Supervision may be exercised over clerical/fiscal personnel through the inspection of completed work. Calculates and prepares bills, invoices and account statements according to established procedures, Maintains and reconciles expenditures; prepares payment vouchers. Utilizes trial balances and prepares monthly and annual reports of a routine nature. Participates in the preparation of payrolls and related work, such as preparing bi-weekly payroll, attendance reports, various personnel forms and related reports. Reviews, investigates and resolves routine accounting discrepancies. Supervises, trains and reviews work of lower level employees.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Knowledge of principles and practices of financial record keeping. Knowledge of basic mathematical procedures used to make fiscal calculations. Knowledge of business English used to prepare brief narrative reports. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.Skill in the operation of a computer, calculator and other office machines used in connection with accounting/fiscal work. Ability to identify and resolve basic accounting problems. Ability to supervise the work of a moderate sized clerical/fiscal staff. &lt;p&gt;GENERAL DESCRIPTION&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Under the general supervision of the Animal Caretaker Supervisor, performs semiskilled work within the City-Parish Animal Control main facility or Adoption Center.  Work involves the health, feeding, daily maintenance and euthanasia of animals housed at the area of assignment.  Employees of this class perform duties necessary to keep kennels clean and care for impounded animals. This level is distinguished from the Animal Caretaker I as an employee with more experience and performing routine tasks with greater independence.  Incumbents also help the public at the kennels when necessary. Performs other work as requested.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Feeds and waters animals at the Animal Control main facility or Adoption Center. Cleans and disinfects animal cages, disposes of refuse materials, changes sawdust and other bedding materials and washes down floors and walls of animal rooms. Assists with the loading, unloading and operation of the euthanasia chamber used in the humane destruction of dogs and cats; disposes of animals accordingly (pertains only to employees assigned to the Animal Control main facility). Completes a status card noting the color and sex of each animal at the Center; and takes inventory of animals housed. Helps the Animal Caretaker Supervisor and the Veterinarian in detecting diseases and disorders of animals received and housed at the kennels. Provides kennel assistance to the public while visiting the Animal Control main facility or Adoption Center; performs minor maintenance, yard work and repair work in and around area of assignment. Follows veterinary care instructions regarding medications and treatment of impounded animals. Recognizes and reports injuries, obvious signs of illness, or other physical problems to supervisors.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Knowledge of the proper techniques used in the physical handling of dogs and cats and the occupational hazards involved and safety precautions that must be taken. &lt;p&gt;GENERAL DESCRIPTION&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Under the direction of a higher classification, performs highly skilled work in routine maintenance, construction and repair activities on sewers, drainage pipes, streets, roads, bridges, buildings and other municipal physical facilities.  Work also involves the operation of a variety of light or specialized and medium automotive equipment in order to complete assignments, and the trimming and removal of trees and stumps.  Employees of this class are also responsible for operating construction equipment properly.  Hazardous conditions are often encountered when employees are required to work at considerable heights and around power lines while operating power saws.  Some positions in this classification may be on 24-hour call out for emergency situations. Work is assigned orally and in writing and is reviewed while in progress and upon completion. Minor supervision may be exercised over a small crew of workers as assigned. Repairs sidewalks, driveways, cave-ins, sewer lines and manholes; unstops and washes sewer lines and storm drains using the vacuum and wash trucks; works with or operates TV camera for the inspection of sewer lines. Operates various striping machines for applying directional markings and symbols on streets and roads.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Operates a truck-mounted hydraulic platform boom used in trimming and removing trees; operates various tools and equipment peculiar to tree trimming; climbs trees using ladders, ropes, saddles, and safety belts; prunes trees using various types of pruning equipment. Serves as lead worker over a small crew as assigned performing various activities such as routine repairs, maintenance and construction on streets, roads, ditches, drainage pipes, bridges, buildings and other municipal physical facilities, and the trimming and/or removal and loading of limbs, branches, debris and dead or dying trees. Maintains canals throughout the city to ensure proper drainage and to prevent flooding. Maintains interstate and boulevard median by cutting grass, weed eating, pruning trees and bushes; picks up litter along roadways and interstates; maintains municipal flower beds.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Maintains equipment by washing and cleaning, changing belts, hoses, oil and oil filters, and performing any other minor repairs. Performs various maintenance activities in and around City-Parish maintenance buildings and lots.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Knowledge of the trades and general municipal maintenance, construction and labor tools, equipment and practices. Knowledge of applicable traffic laws and regulations governing automotive equipment operations. Knowledge of principles and practices of servicing trucks and other light or medium automotive and mechanical equipment. Knowledge of the work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment and operation. Skill in the operation of assigned equipment. Skill in the use and care of the tools and equipment used in general maintenance, construction, repair work and tree trimming. Ability to detect needed repairs and to make necessary operation adjustments. Ability to plan, organize and lead the work of a small crew of workers.
