Used Oil & Antifreeze

Household Hazardous Materials This document is in PDF format. Download the free viewer from www.adobe.com

Why Recycle?

Oil:
For starters, that dirty oil that conscientious car owners change every 3,000 - 5,000 miles may be TOXIC.  Avoid skin contact.  Used oil is a complex organic substance consisting of heavy metals and hydrocarbons like benzene.  Used oil does not belong in the trash!

Antifreeze:
The fluid that keeps your car running in cold weather contains the toxic ingredient ethylene glycol. Look for antifreeze with propylene glycol, which may be less toxic.  Also look for recycled antifreeze.

**Warning-Antifreeze is life threatening to children and pets!**

Oil and antifreeze pose a threat to our landfill. Keep these toxins out of our landfills by using the local recyclers listed below.
