The mission of the East Baton Rouge Parish Planning Commission is to be a driving force supporting the development and implementation of the comprehensive plan, providing guidance for growth, development, and restoration, while recognizing the importance of maintaining healthy, diversified neighborhoods, encouraging increased access to economic opportunity, and enhancing the quality of life for all residents of East Baton Rouge Parish.

The Planning Commission of the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge, Louisiana was established in 1949, as a part of one of the country’s earliest combined city and parish governing units. The City-Parish Planning Commission, a governmental agency is directed by state law and the Metropolitan Charter to guide the physical growth of Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish with comprehensive planning and land use controls.

Announcement!  Effective January 1, 2015, the Metropolitan Council has directed that the Planning Commission staff be responsible for the administration of the City-Parish Restoration Tax Abatement Program. Information regarding this Program will become available shortly, however, questions related to this Program may be directed to Barrett Chaix, Sr. Planner, Long Range Planning Division, or Lael Holton, Manager, Long Range Planning Division.

Please be advised that on May 16, 2012, the Metropolitan Council approved Ordinance 15310 This document is in PDF format.  Download the free viewer from that requires all land development applications within the Zachary Community School District to be submitted to the Zachary Planning and Zoning Commission within five (5) days of submission of the plans to the East Baton Rouge Parish Planning and Zoning Commission

Based upon Ordinance 15310, the Zachary Planning and Zoning Commission has forty-five (45) days to provide us with a recommendation/comments. If you have  questions or require additional information, then please contact our office.
