[ PRETRIAL TRAFFIC DIVERSION'S FAQ's ]

Prosecution of certain traffic citations issued by Baton Rouge City Police which are assigned to Baton Rouge City Court may be diverted by participation in and completion of the Parish Attorney’s Pre-trial Traffic Diversion Program. Some traffic violations require a mandatory appearance before a Judge. For those violations that do not require a court appearance, this program allows certain eligible moving violations to be converted to a non-moving violation.

The Baton Rouge Parish Attorney’s Pretrial Diversion Division has partnered with GoToTrafficSchool.com/BatonRouge External web link not maintained by City of Baton Rouge to provide an online traffic course for drivers who have received an eligible moving violation.

If you are at least 17 years of age and have an eligible moving violation and wish to enroll in the Parish Attorney Pre-trial Traffic Diversion Program, log in at the website GoToTrafficSchool.com/BatonRouge External web link not maintained by City of Baton Rouge or you may call toll-free 1-888-329-7069 or 225-389-5440, (Hearing Impaired TTD: 1-800-735-2929).

Program participants must be at least 17 years of age and have an eligible moving violation which can be changed to a non-moving violation once every 24 months by enrolling and completing the Parish Attorney Online Pretrial Traffic Diversion Program, which may keep your insurance rates from increasing as a result of a moving violation.

Participants may enroll in the program from any computer, tablet or mobile phone. If a potential participant does not have a device with Internet access, he or she can take the course at any Mail Boxes Etc or at the East Baton Rouge public library, a listing of which appears on the City-Parish website and at GoToTrafficSchool.com/BatonRouge External web link not maintained by City of Baton Rouge.

Program participants must complete the online course no later than 10 days before their court due date. If a participant has not completed the course prior to 10 days before their court date, then their account will be disabled and he or she must still go to court on the assigned court date.

If a participant fails to complete the course and fails to subsequently appear in court on the assigned court date, then a warrant of arrest for that person may issue. To have this warrant recalled, that person must appear in court before a Judge.

Program participants must complete the online course no later than 10 days before their court due date. If a participant has not completed the course prior to 10 days before their court date, then their account will be disabled and he or she must still go to court on the assigned court date.
