FIRST THREE MONTHS | SIX (6) MONTHS
As new employees with the East Baton Rouge Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, your initial responsibilities are two fold:
Orientation and training in your daily programmatic responsibilities.
Orientation and training in basic emergency management principals, Emergency Operations Center operations and your specific emergency function.
Initial training is designed to start on the first day of employment and last through your 6 month probationary period. Upon completion of this curriculum track you should have a functional knowledge of basic emergency management.
Additionally, you will have earned credit toward the "Professional Development Series" certificate and the Louisiana Emergency Manager certification. The training curriculum/timeline is outlined below in an interactive format.
Your training progress will be monitored and documented with your immediate supervisor, and the Training and Exercise Coordinator. Feedback regarding the courses will also be gathered in order to determine the effectiveness of those courses
in aiding with your learning of emergency management principles.
Copies of certificates of attendance or completion will be given to the Training and Exercise Coordinator. Failure to comply with the training standards will result in disciplinary measures.

The objectives of the Current Employee Curriculum Track are the following:
Advanced training in emergency management concepts and Emergency Operations Center operations.
Provide training in "universal" professional skills.
Progression toward completion of Professional Development Series Certificate.
NOTE: Current employees should review the requirements in the "New Employee" track, identify classes they have not taken and complete them before beginning this track.

UPON COMPLETION OF THE NEW EMPLOYEE CURRICULUM TRACK, PARTICIPANTS WILL AT A MINIMUM:
Have an understanding of basic emergency management concepts and emergency operations center operations.
Earned emergency management training hours (100 required) toward Louisiana Emergency Manager Certification (college credits apply. See www.lepa.org
Earned emergency management training hours toward the Professional Development Series Certificate.
