Myriam's House

Myriam's House, Inc.

Myriam's House, Inc. opened in 1995 as a transitional housing program for unaccompanied homeless women. The facility presently consists of a furnished one bedroom apartment, which houses eligible participants for 12 months. The program is designed to assist women in identifying and combating personal, psychological, financial and societal barriers to self-sufficiency and housing stability. Residents also receive other services that include, but are not limited to "start-up" food and clothing, counseling, development of life management skills, assistance with obtaining a GED (when applicable), vocational assessment, substance abuse recovery support, and assistance with locating permanent housing. Each resident is required to save 40% or more of their expected income towards permanent housing.  The Emergency Shelter Grants Program provides for assistance with payment for transportation and residential support.
