| Special Programs Supervisor | | | | JOB CODE: | 105148 | | | | PAY GRADE: | 2180 | | | | SALARY RANGE: | $33,162 - $45,904 | | | | LOCATION OF WORK | | Juvenile Services | | | | GENERAL DESCRIPTION | | Under the supervision of an employee of a higher classification, performs highly responsible supervisory work directing and coordinating staff programs, workshops, and other special services of Juvenile Services. Work also involves setting up, supervising, and coordinating volunteer services, recruiting and screening volunteer workers, establishing and conducting a training program for volunteers, and supervising the activities of the volunteer program staff; responsible for developing partnerships with community agencies. Work requires the exercise of independent judgment within broad policy limitations. Work is subject to review through discussion and observation of results obtained. Performs other work as requested. | | | | ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS | | Researches areas where volunteer services can be used effectively.
Maintains close liaison with the staff to coordinate special services for the department including volunteers and professional services.
Supervises the keeping of appropriate records of special services.
Submits statistics and other evaluative reports on the effectiveness of the program.
Establishes and maintains an in-service training program for volunteers.
Conducts and coordinates delinquency prevention talks at schools and other groups.
Coordinates job fairs for the department.
Develops set of contacts and partnerships with community agencies. | | | | | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES | | Knowledge of the theory and practice of social casework.
Knowledge of state laws and local ordinances relating to juvenile and adult probation.
Knowledge of adult and child psychology as related to the socially maladjusted person.
Knowledge of and ability to use community resources available for the treatment of the maladjusted person.
Ability to make decisions recognizing established precedents and practices and to use resourcefulness and tact in meeting new problems.
Ability to understand and treat the special problems of the socially maladjusted person.
