|Under general direction of the Assistant Public Works Director of Management/Finance, performs responsible administrative and supervisory work in coordinating and directing the activities of the Warehouse. Work involves the development and regular review of warehouse policies and procedures, planning inventory ordering and storage through the interpretation of computer inventory reports, and regular communication with Warehouse employees. Work is reviewed through inspections, reports and conferences. Performs other work as requested.|
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Plans, organizes, and coordinates the implementation of policies and procedures governing the operation of the Warehouse.
Confers with City-Parish agencies, departments, and/or division to plan inventory requisition and storage.
Assists in preparing the budget for the Warehouse.
Makes warehousing decisions about adding or deleting stock items; minimum and maximum order quantities; stock number assignments and charges, etc.; supervises the reorder, issuance and delivery of stock.
Analyzes and evaluates various computerized inventory management reports to ensure proper turnover of stock, correct recording of issues and receipts, minimum stock loss, etc.
Conducts and audits physical inventory.

|Knowledge of inventory control principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of periodic and perpetual inventory procedures.
Knowledge of computerized inventory procedures.
Knowledge of accounting principles involving a revolving fund accounting system.
Ability to supervise, plan and coordinate the staff and operations of the Warehouse to achieve optimum efficiency.
Ability to design and implement an effective inventory program.
Ability to analyze computerized inventory reports and apply the data to warehouse operations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and agency, department and/or division heads.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and four years of progressively responsible industrial supply warehousing experience, including two years of supervisory experience.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
