Baton Rouge Fire Station #1 and EMS #6 is located at 3024 Florida Street. Firehouse #1 was constructed in 2009. Station #1 replaced the original Firehouse #1 and EMS Station #6 was originally built in 1926 at 1801 Laurel Street. Until completion of this project, the station on Laurel Street was the oldest operating station in the City of Baton
Rouge. The building is slightly less than 10,000 square feet in size with four bays to house Fire Department and EMS equipment and personnel. Firehouse #1 is supervised under District Number 1 Fire Chief.
BRFD Station #1 houses a 2000 - HME 1500 GPM Pumper. #1 houses a crew of approximately 9 to 10 firefighters which are stationed here 24/7. EMS also operates an Emergency Response Truck out of this location.
Station #1 handled a total of 2,034 engine calls in 2013.
