Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Scotlandville Fire Station

On January 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m., the Baton Rouge Fire Department held a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the long awaited new Scotlandville Fire Station #16. The ceremony was held at 1155 Rosenwald Rd (across the street from the current station).

The current station (a little less than 3000 sq. ft.) was erected in the 1950’s as a part of the Scotlandville Fire Department. A few decades later, the area was annexed into the city and the station and personnel became a part of The Baton Rouge Fire Department. This fifty year old station will be replaced by a “drive-through, two-bay, 7800 sq. ft. (4200 sq. ft. living area) station worth approximately $1.5 million.

The station is expected to be completed in the fall of 2008. This project is the work of architect, Crump Wilson and Contractor, First Millenium.
