Charles W. Lamar, Jr. YMCA

YMCAYMCAThe YMCA of the Capital Area is proud to be a part of a resurging downtown Baton Rouge. The Charles W. Lamar, Jr. YMCA opened in January of 2001 and recently expanded its facility.

YMCA downtownLocated at 521 Third Street, the facility is part of the LaSalle Parking Garage operated by the state. The 13,000 square foot facility includes state of the art equipment such as Cybex strength, free weights, elliptical and treadmill machines by Star Trac and Precor, recumbent bikes, stairsteppers, and a cardio and spinning studio. Personal Trainers and Massage Therapy are also available.

So Can I – At the Y is a collaborative program with LSU, YMCA of the Capital Area, the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and McMain’s Children’s Development Center. This program offers children with disabilities the opportunity to interact with other kids and with adults doing physical fitness, games, arts & crafts and more. For adults, the branch conducts an annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament in the spring.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. till 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. till 1 p.m. Parking is free with your LaSalle ticket validated for up to 2 ½ hours.

Each branch of the YMCA of the Capital Area is unique and reflects the community in which it serves. Your city-wide membership to the Charles W. Lamar, Jr. YMCA provides you use of all seven locations.

State of Louisiana employees have a special membership plan with the YMCA of the Capital Area.

A current pay stub or letter from your human resource department is required for both of these plans. No Contracts To Sign!
