Councilman Mickey Skyring is currently serving his first term representing District 12. Mr. Skyring, a long time Republican,
attended Louisiana State University, majoring in History and Political Science, and he is a Fellow with the Institute for Court Management. Mickey served in the U.S. Army Security Agency where he was awarded the U.S. Air Force
Unit Commendation Medal. Mickey and his wife Wally are long-time residents of East Baton Rouge Parish, and have been married over 30 years and have two daughters, Mia and Mischa. Mia is married to Brian Wax and they have 3
children. Mischa is a graduate student at L.S.U.
Mickey has been very active in the Baton Rouge community; serving as Deputy City Constable from 1972-1978, Clerk of the Baton Rouge City Court 1978-1981, and Clerk of Court and Judicial Administrator for the Baton
Rouge City Court from 1981-1999. As Judicial Administrator, he directed the collection of more than nine million dollars, administered a budget of six million dollars, and supervised 150 employees. During his 22 year career as
Clerk and Judicial Administrator, he served 15 different judges. In 1981, Mickey was honored as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America. In 1982, President Reagan appointed him as a member of the United States Presidential
Commission Against Drunk Driving. He still serves on the National Commission Against Drunk Driving. Mickey is presently Office Administrator for McGlynn, Glisson & Koch Law Firm.
