On November 6, 2012 Incumbent Councilmember Tara Wicker was elected by the citizens of District 10 to serve a second term on the East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council.
Tara Wicker is a lifetime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has a Masters Degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Public Policy Analysis. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. Tara served in the Office of the Mayor President for the City of Baton Rouge as Assistant Chief Administrative Officer during Mayor Simpson's administration. For several years she worked as a Program Officer and Community Organizer for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, where she established five local Community Development Corporations (CDC's) and other community revitalization efforts throughout the City Baton Rouge. In addition, Tara served as Executive Assistant for the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. She is currently serving her second term as Chairman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Planning Commission. Tara serves as a United Way
Board Member and is the current Chairman for the Community Investment Cabinet and
also Co-Chairs the Women's Leadership Council.
Tara is a dedicated and passionate Christian and community activist who believes strongly in the value of the family unit. She has lived and worked throughout the City of Baton Rouge for most of her life and career.
Tara is married for 21 years to her high school sweetheart, Michael Wicker, former Louisiana State Trooper, current minister,
and local business owner. She is the mother of five Tya, Trinity, Michael, Mya, and Magnus.
