|Under the direction of an employee of a higher classification, performs responsible administrative work in the development, maintenance and updating of the parish-wide master street address guide (MSAG) database. Work involves responsibility for updating and maintaining digital maps and street files for emergency services districts and input of special site specific data into the parish Computer Aided Dispatch system (CAD) and the Community Notification System (CAL); this position may involve supervision of subordinates. Performs other work as requested. |
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Processes 911 inquiry forms, determining the validity of changes to be referred to South Central Bell.
Maintains address information for the Computer Aided Dispatch System.
Updates street information in both the Community Notification System mapping computer and the Computer Aided Dispatch System.
Assists other City-Parish departments and other governmental entities within the parish by sharing geographical information gathered on all systems in the Communications Division.
Works directly with wireline and wireless phone providers to assure maintenance and accuracy of their databases.
Performs related work as required.
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES|
|Knowledge of Computer Aided Dispatch systems as they relate to mapping and data maintenance.
Knowledge of Microsoft office suite software.
Knowledge of databases, database software, and MapInfo mapping software.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency, completion of an approved Basic EMT course; and four years experience in the operations of a public safety 9-1-1 communications center.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
|Certified APCO Basic Telecommunicator.|
