|Emergency Medical Services|
|Under the direction of the EMS Administrator, develops performance indicators for all divisions of the Emergency Medical Services department so that current processes can be properly evaluated. Develops and manages the implementation of quality improvement programs in all EMS divisions based on internal and external evaluations. Develops long range planning for the Department of Emergency Medical Services. Researches and tests new technologies that could be used to improve efficiency or increase accuracy of all processes within the department. Performs other work as requested.|
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Compiles statistical information on all processes of EMS daily business. Information may include medical quality assurance standards, billing performance indicators, manpower distribution and resources, 911 call center dispatch times, and other statistical information.
Researches and make recommendations of software & hardware systems that would increase accuracy in areas such as billing, patient reports, 911 call taking, and other systems of EMS.
Develops quality improvement programs by consulting with all division managers and acts as a liaison between each of them.
Studies inventory control and implements systems of accountability of all supplies and medications.
Provides reports of information collected and consults with appropriate managers on means of improvement or identification of processes that work.
Maintains and expands existing database systems that aid in the every day operations of each EMS division.
Researches qualifying grants that may apply to special projects for the department.
Studies new expansions for the department such as locations for new stations based on call volume and population.
Assesses the performance of the type of vehicles currently in the fleet and makes recommendations as to new purchases. |
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES|
|Knowledge of statistical analysis and the ability to create performance indicators based on the information.
Knowledge of relational database software and experience in database manipulation.
Knowledge of programming computer systems and associated software and hardware.
Knowledge of business English used to prepare detailed reports.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, supplemented by three years professional level work experience.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
