Community Relations Supervisor

Under the Direction of the Court Services Coordinator, performs responsible work in the planning, implementation, direction and evaluation of community relations for the City Court Department. Work involves assisting in the development, implementation and supervision of court programs. Work involves supervising the community service work program and those individuals assigned to complete their community service at the courthouse. Work requires submitting and monitoring work orders to the Department of Public Works. In the absence of the Court Services Coordinator, employee is responsible for the direction of the division and the responsibilities of the Court Services Coordinator. Work is reviewed through personal conferences, written reports and for results obtained. Performs other work as requested.
Administers the City Court Community Service Work Program. Responds to inquiries from offenders, court officials, attorneys, other agencies, whether in person by telephone or written correspondence. Plans, directs, trains and evaluates support staff. Supervises and directs the Department of Public Works and monitors completion of all maintenance work in the courthouse. Submits work orders to the Department of Public Works and monitors completion of all maintenance work the courthouse. Conducts tours of the courthouse. Monitors the work of community service workers assigned to the courthouse. Assists Court Services Coordinator in special assignments or work as requested. Completes evaluations of facility needs and makes recommendations to the Court Services Coordinator. Assists with ensuring the proper use and maintenance of the City Court vehicle. Coordinates the collection and distribution to DPW of all City Court equipment being returned to inventory. Assists with coordination of special events at the courthouse.
Knowledge of computer applications and software. Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and City-Parish laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of departmental rules and regulations. Knowledge of legal terminology. Knowledge of applicable programs of intervention. Knowledge of modern supervisory techniques and methods. Skill in the use of modern office equipment. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing to groups and to individuals. Ability to establish effective working relationship with others. Ability to supervise office staff. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, or a related field, and three years of progressively responsible social work experience.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
