| Drug Technician | | | | JOB CODE: | 120102 | | | | PAY GRADE: | 1090 | | | | SALARY RANGE: | $21,376 - $29,590 | | | | LOCATION OF WORK | | City Court | | | | GENERAL DESCRIPTION | | Under the direction of the Court Services Coordinator, performs responsible work in drug testing of persons referred within the court system for detection of illicit use of abusive drugs. Work involves daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of drug testing instruments, completion of necessary procedures on each individual tested, troubleshooting instruments, testifying in court, and maintaining supplies and all necessary documentation required. Work is performed independently and reviewed through results. Performs other work as requested. | | | | ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS | | Performs drug testing on individuals referred by the court system.
Orders supplies and maintains inventory controls.
Conducts entire process of receiving specimens.
Operates drug-testing instruments.
Complies with quality assurance/quality control and maintenance requirements.
Troubleshoots drug testing instruments and calls for repairs in a timely manner.
Testifies in court as to drug procedures and results of individual tests.
Acts as consultant to probation officer on drug testing issues.
Maintains required documentation of other approved City Court drug testing procedures.
| | | | | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES | | Knowledge of overall requirements of proper laboratory operations/procedures.
Knowledge of the terminology used in the field of abusive drug testing.
Knowledge of the state and local laws and regulations governing the operations of the drug testing lab.
Ability to complete all the necessary forms, log sheets and documentation required.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair instruments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
