|Department of Public Works|
|Under general direction of a departmental supervisor, performs responsible supervisory and specialized store keeping work. Work involves planning, coordinating, and supervising the storage and issuance of commodities, materials, and supplies. Work also involves the use of independent judgment within established policies and guidelines and is reviewed through audits, inspections, and inventories. Performs other work as requested.|
|ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS|
|Receives, stores, and dispenses materials, hardware, tools, equipment, and office supplies; plans, assigns, directs and evaluates the work of support personnel.
Completes requisitions; authorizes purchases; prepares delivery receipts; accepts deliveries; maintains related records.
Maintains perpetual inventory of all stocks; analyzes stock for reorder levels; conducts specialized audits and inventories; completes physical inventory annually.
Responds to inquiries whether in person, by telephone, or written correspondence; prepares reports.
May operate light automotive equipment such as front-end loader and forklift.
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES|
|Knowledge of store keeping and shipping methods and practices.
Knowledge of inventory control principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of periodic and perpetual inventory procedures.
Knowledge of governmental budgetary process.
Knowledge of purchase requisition procedures.
Skill in the safe operation of light motor equipment.
Skill in the use of modern office equipment, such as, the telephone, typewriter, calculator, copier, computer terminal and related peripherals.
Ability to make accurate and rapid arithmetical computations.
Ability to plan, assign, direct and evaluate the work of subordinate staff.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to design, implement and maintain an effective inventory program.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, in writing and orally.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
|EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE|
|High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, and two years of experience as a stock clerk.|
|Any equivalent combination of education and experience.|
