GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Assistant Revenue Manager, performs routine work in collecting money from parking meters. Work involves responsibility for making collections from a large number of parking meters and delivering such monies to a central repository. The employee of this class may also do preventive maintenance and minor repair work in the field. Work is performed under the general supervision following well-established routines. Performs other work as requested.
 
ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Walks considerable distances pulling a collection can on wheels. Collects money on a daily basis from parking meters and deposits coins at a designated repository. Removes coins from jammed meters; makes minor repairs to meters. Cleans clock mechanisms on parking meters.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the geography of the city. Ability to secure a fidelity bond. Ability to deal with the public courteously. Ability to operate a coin counting machine. Ability to operate a vehicle. Ability to work effectively with coworkers and the public. Physical condition adequate enough to walk considerable distances in varying weather conditions. Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE
Ability to read and write, and one year experience in a responsible work position.
 
SUBSTITUTIONS
Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment and maintain throughout employment in this classification.
