The Baton Rouge Area Mutual Aid System is proud to host the 19th Annual BRAMAS Hazardous Materials/WMD
School. The FREE training is offered to emergency
responders, planners, and managers working within Government
or Private Industry. The school will be held Tuesday, August 25th through Thursday, 27th at the Baton Rouge River
Center.
These classes, taught by experts in the field, provide training to public and private emergency response personnel on a wide variety of topics ranging from tank trucks & railcars, to Weapons of Mass Destruction, to Air
Monitoring, Scene Access & Decontamination. All local, state, federal, medical, and industrial emergency response personnel are invited to participate in the courses. These sessions give responders the opportunity to
exchange ideas and receive quality 16-hour instruction on hazardous materials response. There is no charge for attendance.

This 2 hour class will cover tank truck construction, types
and uses of tank trucks. A tank truck will be used for
demonstration purposes to describe emergency equipment and
procedures.

This class will overview the properties,

Louisiana’s Civil Support Team (62nd) and discuss
the hazards associated with incidents that involve

This 2 hour class will discuss the various
types of personal protective equipment used during chemical
releases. An overview of Levels of Protection, suit design and

Rescue Emergencies- 2 Hours |

This program will address various types of rescue
situations responders can face and an overview of
procedures and equipment required to safely perform

VII. Explosives/Bomb Threat Response- 4 Hours |

This 4 hour class will cover bomb threat procedures for
industry and public safety, discussions on bombs and how
they function, explosives in general, and a brief overview
of domestic terrorism, bomb threats and how to prepare for

VIII. Plugging and Patching Equipment- 4 Hours |

This 4 hour class will overview the use of various plugging
and patching kits. Including a hands on session with the
Chlorine A, B, & C Kits, Midland Kit, and Edwards and

IX. Haz Mat Medical Emergencies- 4 Hours |
|
This 4 hour class details the management of patients injured
during chemical emergencies. Discussions will cover pre
hospital care, transportation and arrival at hospital

X. Fire Fighting Foam- 4 Hours |

This 4 hour program will overview the proper use of various
fire fighting foams. Topics to be discussed will include but
are not limited to; different types of firefighting foams,
appliances for applying the foam, and required foam

XI. TRANSCAER/Rail Car Emergencies- 4 Hours |

This 4 hour class covers identification of rail cars,
preparation and response to possible HazMat transportation
incidents and safety when working around rail cars.

XII. NIMS 100 -4 Hours |
|
This 4-hour course will overview the Introduction to Incident
Command System, ICS-100. It describes the history, features
and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident
Command System. The student will be prepared to take the
IS-100 online test with FEMA upon completion of this course.
Students will be given a Certificate of Completion from LSU
FETI at the end of the school for this course.

XIII. NIMS 200- 4 Hours |

This 4-hour course will overview the Introduction to
Incident Command System, ICS-200. ICS-200 provides training
on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a
supervisory position within the ICS. The student will be
prepared to take the IS-200 online test with FEMA upon
completion of this course. Students will be given a
Certificate of Completion from LSU FETI at the end of the
school for this course. |
