MISSION of the ADA TASK FORCE
The mission of the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge ADA Task Force on Disabilities is to advise the Mayor-President and Metropolitan Council on city, state and federal policies that will benefit
citizens with disabilities. The City-Parish ADA Task Force is concerned with issues of inclusion for all persons with disabilities.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the ADA Task Force is to fully integrate individuals with disabilities into all aspects of community life.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
The ADA Task Force will be responsive to persons with
disabilities,
Aim to make the City of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge the showplace for compliance with the ADA,
Serve as a direct service committee,
Serve as a policy advisor to the Mayor and City Council, review
and react to government activities and encourage community
involvement in the city,
Promote pedestrian safety and access to all public streets,
Ensure that all public buildings and facilities, services, programs and activities are in compliance with ADA regulations,
Develop disability awareness and educational outreach programs,
Address unmet transit needs, and
Create "A BARRIER FREE BATON ROUGE"
