The Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness will be hosting a training opportunity targeted for all those in emergency response disciplines. MGT-310, Threat and Risk Assessment is a Department of Homeland Security Office of Domestic Preparedness approved course that is being offered to East Baton Rouge Parish at no cost. The course will be offered on May 26-28, 2009 at the East Baton Rouge Parish Advanced Traffic Management and Emergency Operations Center.

Description

This 24-hour course targets managers and supervisors of key response personnel within a local jurisdiction who are required to prevent, mitigate, manage, and/or resolve a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)/Terrorism incident. Participants will be part of a multi-disciplinary team. Upon course completion teams will be able to conduct comprehensive jurisdictional threat and risk assessments, develop likely scenarios, forecast outcomes based on planning factors, determine current and desired capabilities, and documented needs to improve preparedness in the areas of planning, organization, equipment, training, exercises. The course delivery methodology consists of lecture, small group discussion, participant activities, multimedia scenarios, and performance of vulnerability assessment for facilities, sites, and infrastructure selected by the host jurisdiction.

Other Information

Participants should possess a working knowledge of the jurisdiction's Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), and have completed a WMD/Terrorism incident awareness course. National Emergency Response & Rescue Training Center (NERRTC), in cooperation with the Office of Grants & Training (OG&T), distributes a WMD/Terrorism Awareness for Emergency Responders Course via the Internet at http://www.teexwmdcampus.com.
