Saint Vincent De Paul - Bishop Ott Shelter
(Women & Children)

Society of St. Vincent De Paul - (Day/Night Shelter)

Society of St. Vincent De Paul - (Women and Children) is a new multi-purpose facility for the homeless with operational funding provided by the Emergency Shelter Grants Program. Opened in December of 2001, the facility is a day center and homeless night shelter for women and children. The program’s initiative is to serve single homeless women and women with children. Upon admission, each guest is provided with needed hygiene items and clothing, and referred to any health care agency as needed. Prescriptions may also be filled at the shelter. Cleaning facilities are offered during stay, along with 3 daily meals. Adult counseling on alcohol, drug abuse, mental health, money management and parenting are some services which are provided by ESGP funds. School-aged children are accommodated with after-school tutoring by the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. The women of this facility are also provided with bus tokens for transportation to meetings, job interviews, and other important appointments in order to gain assistance.
