UREC "Home Sharing" & "Adopt-A-Family"

Urban Restoration Enhancement Corporation (UREC) manages a newly renovated property of Urban Meadows, in a multi-family community setting. The principal aim of the proposed “Home Sharing and Adopt-A-Family” Program is to eliminate some of the existing barriers to safe, decent affordable housing for adult women and families with children in transition from the temporary facilities. It serves low to moderate-income (single and two-parent) families with children through funding from the Emergency Shelter Grants Program. The homes are handicap accessible, within city transportation routes and sited in an inner city location. Other services provided by this program include life skills, education, budgeting and employment assistance, which is structured to stimulate their potentials of living independently. ESGP funds are used to cover per participant homeless prevention costs as well as costs for essential services and related operations.
