GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Wastewater Collections Systems Manager, performs responsible administrative and technical work assisting in planning and coordinating the activities of the Wastewater Collections Division. ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Assists in planning, organizing and supervising the work of subordinate supervisors, skilled operators, and maintenance workers in the operations and maintenance section engaged in repairing sewer lines, streets, sidewalks and driveways upon completion of subsurface sewer construction. Handles personnel related matters including employee discipline, job and safety training, and any other personnel related matters as designated by the Wastewater Collections System Manager. Coordinates activities of various divisions within the Department of Public Works and private water companies for the repair and resolution of sewer complaints. Discusses with citizens by telephone, correspondence or in person any sewer complaint of a complex or unusual nature. Reviews and creates database reports on productivity, cost accounting, and budget preparation. Conducts staff meetings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of supervisory, managerial and administrative techniques utilized in construction and maintenance activities. Knowledge of equipment and tools used in the construction and repair of sewer or drainage repair. Knowledge of maps, blueprints or other reporting forms utilized by construction and maintenance activities. Knowledge of inspection techniques, laws, rules and other procedures utilized by maintenance or field inspectors. Ability to prepare cost and pay estimates for new or maintenance repair work. Ability to analyze problems from field observation, public contact and reports and make recommendations for their resolution. Ability to make decisions in conformance with laws, regulations and policies of the department. Ability to communicate and negotiate with employees and the general public. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, construction management or a related field, and three years work experience in sewer disposal systems involving inspection, construction, maintenance and drainage, including one year supervisory experience.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of an employee of a higher classification, performs skilled work at the journeyman level in the maintenance and repair of gasoline, diesel and alternative fuel powered automotive and related equipment. ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Performs complete overhaul and repair work in different types of gasoline, alternative fuel and diesel automotive equipment, ranging from lawn mowers to large bulldozers. Repairs, rebuilds, and overhauls transmissions, differentials, including front and rear end assemblies. Inspects, adjusts, and replaces necessary units and related parts, valves, pistons, piston rings, brakes, main bearing assembly, cooling, ignition, and fuel systems. Repairs and overhauls engines, alternators, carburetors, clutches; replaces blades, axles and springs. Repairs and overhauls air compressors, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, and other specialized related equipment. Road tests equipment to locate defects and to check repair work. Does minor and major electrical work on automotive equipment, such as installing batteries, repairing and adjusting lights, replacing alternators and starters and tracing electrical shorts. Repairs automotive computer and electronic control systems, including electronic carburetors and fuel injection. Inspects City-Parish vehicles and taxicabs in East Baton Rouge Parish for state safety inspection; issues inspection permits. Occasionally does minor body repair work on automotive or heavy equipment. May operate equipment, change tires and make service calls. Makes road calls, repairing vehicles when possible; maintains and repairs road service truck and its auxiliary equipment.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Administers advanced first aid and treatment to sick or injured patients at the scene of the injury or en route to a hospital as needed. Administers advanced life support procedures such as endotracheal and esophageal intubation, drug and intravenous therapy, and cardiac defibrillation. Completes patient run reports whether patient is transported or not; also completes patient billing and insurance forms. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of a higher classification, performs highly skilled work in the operation of large heavy duty equipment as listed on the City-Parish's official Equipment Operator Equipment List and other related heavy equipment. Work involves responsibility for the safe operation of large heavy duty equipment used in public works construction and maintenance. Work may also involve the operation of a variety of light, specialized and medium equipment on an incidental basis. Employees in this class operate draglines, motor graders, gradalls, front-end loaders, street sweepers, and other pieces of large heavy duty equipment on a regular assignment. Employees are responsible for operating such equipment properly. Some positions in this classification may be on 24-hour call out for emergency situations. Close supervision may be exercised over a crew of workers as assigned. Performs other work as requested.

ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS
Operates on a regular basis one or more pieces of large heavy duty equipment, such as dragline, bulldozer, gradall, scraper, prentice loader, or other equipment as outlined in the official Equipment Operator Equipment List. Maintains refuse at the City-Parish landfill by pushing it to the proper area at the proper grade; covers refuse with the proper thickness of dirt to prevent odors. Digs new ditches and canals, cleans existing ditches and canals, lays pipe to ensure proper drainage and to prevent flooding. Builds and repairs fences. Maintains heavy equipment by washing and cleaning, changing belts, hoses, oil and oil filters, and performing any other minor repairs; more complex repairs are referred to mechanics at Central Garage. Maintains interstate and boulevard medians by cutting grass, weed eating, and pruning trees and bushes. Removes large debris not picked up by garbage men, such as large branches, limbs and large household items discarded by the public. Maintains City-Parish roads, streets, and curbs to allow for safe travel by the public. May supervise a crew of workers engaged in maintenance and construction activities, or as assigned. May include the operation of a variety of light, specialized and medium automotive equipment on an incidental basis.
