In
addition to the regular curbside pick-up, the city offers a special
recycling pick-up for unbundled woody waste and bulky waste as well as
large household appliances and automobile tires.
Woody Waste Place, unbundled woody waste (including brush piles, tree limbs and wood waste)
at the curb. Trees cut down by contractors must be removed by the
contractor. Wood pieces and limbs should be no longer than 6 feet
and weigh no more than 100 pounds. Wood waste should be placed at
the curb for pick-up.
Furniture Place bulky items, including furniture and mattresses, at the curb on your regular
recycling day. Please be safe when leaving out a large or awkward item.
Appliances & Tires
Place large appliances like stoves and refrigerators, and up to four automobile tires, at
the curb on your regular recycling day. Commercial or large vehicle tires are not
accepted. Please be safe with any item likely to result in an accident.
Don’t Say Peanuts to Recycling
Looking for places to recycle packing material such as Styrofoam peanuts and shredded paper? Industrial Electronic Supply, Inc. located at 3575 South Choctaw Drive will take your Styrofoam peanuts. They reuse them for packing material.
Call first, (225) 357-4249.
Also, try your local Mail Boxes Et., Quantum Express and other mailing operations. Many will take these objects off your hands and keep them out of the trash. Styrofoam peanuts also make excellent drainage material for potted plants.
**Do NOT put garbage in bulky items as two
different trucks collect the material. |
