Christmas
Trees When you’ve
packed away the star, ornaments and lights, it’s not over for your Christmas
tree! Join thousands of others in the city who have dedicated their
Christmas trees to recycling efforts. The 2007-2008 Christmas tree recycling
program will feature curbside collection of trees for East Baton Rouge
Parish residents, as well as drop-off locations for businesses and residents
who do not have curbside recycling.
Remember
Remove tinsel, lights, stands and ornaments before placing at the curb, as
these items can be harmful to marine life and contaminate mulch and compost
products.

Phone Books Give your old telephone books new life by participating in the city’s special phone book collection program. Simply place your old phone books in your recycling cart on your regular collection day. The phone books will be taken to the Recycling Foundation’s recycling processing facility where the telephone books will be sorted with other paper products and marketed for use as roofing material, home insulation and recycled paper products. Old telephone books (AT&T/The Real Yellow Pages and the Sunshine Pages) may be recycled at anytime, year-round.
Businesses with large quantities of telephone books may take them to the Recycling Foundation at 7923 Tom Drive. For apartment tenants and small business, telephone books and all other recyclables collected in the curbside program are accepted at the Recycle Round Up Monthly Drop-Off held at 6945 Florida Boulevard, in the Louisiana Department of Insurance Receivership Office parking lot, located next to A.K. Durnin, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, on the 3rd Saturday of every month.
